Alessandro Canu was born in Sassari on January 18, 1973. 

In 1994 he graduated in Pictorial Decoration at the Art Institute “Filippo Figari” in Sassari, where he obtained a scolarship that allowed him to continue his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara.  There he obtained a Diploma In Sculpture in 1998. At the same time he began working at the most important ateliers in Carrara and Pietrasanta, refining the knowledge in the technologies for processing marble and granites.

 

In 2002 he moved to Fanano in Emilia Romagna , where he worked in various stone workshops, expanding his experience in the sandston processing sector. In the years he increased his experience in ceramics, terracotta and metalworking, developing a great interest in building materials, such as masonry and construction, while always maintaining an active and continuous collaboration with Tuscan marble workshops. 

 

Since 2012 he has returned to live in Sardinia, initially developing an interest in teaching Plastic and Sculpture at the island's art high schools, later teaching Sculpture, Sculpture and Marble Techniques at the Academies of Fine Arts in Frosinone and Naples, without ever stopping his artistic production and continuous collaboration with various italian workshops.

 

He has partecipated in several international exhibitions and sculpture competitions, creating numerous public artworks and winning awards, both in Italy and internationally, such as in Korea, China, Turkey, Kazakhstan, France, Belgium, Bulgaria, Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina and Germany.
